Free HEIC to PNG Converter Online
Convert HEIC to PNG in seconds: upload up to 20 photos, the conversion starts on its own, and you get lossless PNG files at full resolution. No watermark, no sign up.
How to Convert HEIC to PNG
Three steps, no software, and nothing to configure. A typical iPhone photo is ready as a PNG in one to two seconds.
Select your HEIC photos
Click “Select HEIC photos” or drag up to 20 files into the upload box. It accepts .heic, .heif and .hif files from iPhones, iPads, Samsung phones and cameras.
Conversion to PNG starts automatically
There is no convert button. Each photo starts converting the moment the upload finishes, and a progress bar shows where it is.
Download your PNG files
Save each PNG on its own or grab the whole batch as one ZIP archive. Your download links stay active for 30 days.
When PNG is the right choice, and when it is not
PNG is a lossless format. Every pixel that leaves the HEIC decoder lands in the PNG unchanged, and the file can be opened, edited and saved again without losing anything. That makes PNG the right target when the image is going into design or editing software, when you need transparency, or when a form or a print service insists on PNG.
The trade off is size. HEIC and JPG store photos with lossy compression tuned for camera images; PNG does not. A 12 megapixel iPhone photo that is 2 MB as HEIC and about 3 to 4 MB as JPG usually becomes 15 to 30 MB as PNG. Nothing is wrong with the file, that is simply what a lossless copy of a photograph costs.
So if the goal is to share, email, upload or print a photo, HEIC to JPG is the better conversion: it opens everywhere and stays small. Use HEIC to PNG when the receiving app really wants PNG, when you plan to edit the image in layers, or when the source is a screenshot, a scan or a graphic rather than a camera photo.
What happens to your photo during the conversion
The converter decodes the HEIC at its native resolution, corrects the orientation so the image sits upright in every viewer, and writes a standard 8 bit RGB PNG. Transparency is kept when the HEIC actually contains an alpha channel, which is rare for camera photos but common for graphics saved as HEIC.
For a Live Photo the still frame becomes the PNG; the short video clip stays behind because PNG cannot hold it. Portrait mode depth maps are dropped for the same reason. PNG has only limited metadata support, so treat the PNG as a pixel perfect copy of the picture and keep the HEIC original if you need the capture date, location or camera settings later.
The file name stays the same apart from the extension: IMG_4821.heic comes back as IMG_4821.png. Nothing is resized, cropped, sharpened or watermarked.
How to convert HEIC to PNG without an online tool
Every major platform can do it, with a few more clicks. On a Mac, open the photo in Preview, choose File, then Export, and pick PNG. On Windows 11, open the HEIC in Paint (the HEIF Image Extensions must be installed) and use Save as, then PNG. On an iPhone, the Shortcuts app has a Convert Image action that outputs PNG, and Files can open the result. On Android, Google Photos exports JPG only, so PNG needs a third party app or this page in the browser.
For a folder of hundreds of files, a desktop batch tool or the command line is faster: ImageMagick converts a whole directory with one command. For the handful of photos most people need right now, dropping them on the converter above is the shortest route.
