About Us

heicjpg.online is built and run by BDK Media Daniel Bihun, a small independent studio from Poland. We are technology enthusiasts: we like new formats, fast websites and tools that do one thing properly instead of ten things badly.

Who is behind this tool

Behind heicjpg.online there is no corporation and no venture capital, just a small team led by Daniel Bihun that builds and maintains a family of tiny web tools and tech publications. Our Polish HEIC converter heicnajpg.pl came first, this English version followed, and our tech news site GeekBlog.net is where we write about the technology we use every day.

Being small is the point. It means we can keep this converter free, keep it free of ads and trackers, and answer an email from a real person when something breaks.

Why we built a HEIC converter

Since 2017 every iPhone saves photos as HEIC by default. The format is genuinely clever: the same photo takes about half the space of a JPG. The trouble starts the moment the file leaves the phone, because Windows PCs, web forms, print shops and older software still expect a JPG.

The existing converters worked, but most of them asked for far too much: an account, a subscription, five clicks through cookie banners and ad slots, a watermark, or a download of some desktop program. We wanted the version we would want to use ourselves: open the page, drop the photo, download the JPG. That is the whole product.

What we care about

One job, done properlyThe converter does HEIC to JPG and nothing else. No format zoo, no upsell, no dashboard.
Free, with no stringsNo account, no email address, no premium tier, no watermarks and no daily paywall.
Privacy by defaultNo ads and no tracking scripts. Our analytics is cookie-free, so the site sets no cookies at all.
Your files stay yoursConverted photos live under unguessable links for 30 days and are then deleted automatically. Nobody looks at them.
Quality without compromiseFull original resolution, quality 92 of 100, EXIF metadata and orientation preserved.
Speed as a featureNo convert button to hunt for: conversion starts the moment your upload finishes, usually in about a second.

How it works, in plain terms

A HEIC file stores its picture using HEVC, a video codec. Our server decodes that data with libheif through ImageMagick, then writes a fresh JPG at quality 92, carries the EXIF metadata over and corrects the orientation so photos are never sideways. Everything travels over HTTPS, files are stored under long random tokens, and IP addresses are only ever kept as irreversible hashes to stop abuse.

The site itself is deliberately old-school engineering: no frameworks, no external fonts, no third-party scripts, with the styles inlined so the page paints immediately. That is also why it works on a slow connection and on a ten-year-old phone. It is available in seven languages, and the whole thing is documented in our privacy policy and cookie policy.
