Cookie Policy

The short version: heicjpg.online sets no cookies of its own. The converter works without them and the statistics we use do not need them. In your browser we save only two small technical entries: your choice in the privacy banner and, if you leave a rating, the fact that you already voted. The site is getting ready to show Google AdSense ads: advertising cookies will be used only if you accept them.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser to remember something: that you are logged in, which language you prefer or, very often, an identifier used to follow you from site to site for advertising. Local storage (localStorage), a small built in memory of the browser, and tracking pixels work in a similar way.

2. What this site stores

Here is the complete list:

The converter: no cookies. There are no accounts or sessions to remember: you upload your photos, download the JPGs and you are done.
Your privacy choice: when you press "Accept all" or "Reject all" in the banner, your browser saves the entry hjConsent in localStorage, with your choice and the date. It only stops the banner from appearing on every page, stays valid for 12 months and is never sent to our server.
Rating widget: if you rate the converter after a conversion, your browser saves the entry hjRated in localStorage, so we do not ask you to vote a second time. It contains no personal data and disappears when you clear your browser data.
Statistics: we use Ahrefs Web Analytics, which works without cookies and without identifiers stored in your browser. It shows us only aggregate numbers, such as visits, countries and device types, and does not follow you to other websites.
Google Search Console: tells us how the site appears in Google results. It stores nothing in your browser: the data comes from Google Search, not from these pages.
Google ads: today no ads are loaded on these pages. Once we switch on Google AdSense, Google Ireland Limited may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, avoid showing you the same one over and over, measure performance and prevent fraud. With "Accept all" the ads may be personalised; with "Reject all" we ask Google for non personalised ads only and signal that advertising storage is denied. How Google uses this data is explained at policies.google.com.
Other third party content: none. No social media widgets, embedded videos or external fonts.

3. Why so little data

Turning a HEIC photo into a JPG does not require remembering anything about you, so the site does not. Less data in your browser means lighter pages and fewer reasons to worry about your privacy. The ads, when they arrive, will keep the service free, and that is exactly why the decision stays with you.

4. How to change your choice

You can change your mind whenever you like: at the bottom of every page there is a "Cookie settings" button that reopens the banner. You can also delete this site's data in your browser settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge all have a section for cookies and site data); on your next visit the banner will appear again.

5. How to check it yourself

You do not have to take our word for it. Open your browser's developer tools (usually with F12), go to the Application or Storage tab and look at this site's entries: you will find no cookies of ours, and in Local Storage at most hjConsent and hjRated.

6. Changes to this policy

If we ever add other cookies or other data stored in your browser, we will update this page before doing so and change the date at the top.
